Welcome back to Travelers Rest, a Westchester landmark for over 100 years. Since 1961 the Langner family has been serving German specialty dishes and culinary creations of legendary proportions to our loyal clientele in a cozy, warm and elegant setting. Located in the hamlet of Kitchawan, considered to be part of Ossining, Millwood and Yorktown, the former inn was originally a stagecoach stop catering to weary travelers on Route 100, then a main thoroughfare. Today the fine dining establishment is ushering in the 3rd generation of Langners , Brooke and Gary Jr, to assist their parents, Tina and Gary in continuing the legacy of fine dining created by Gerhardt and AnneLise Langner . Travelers Rest today pays homage to the traditions and delicacies of the past while catering to the nuanced tastes of today’s most discriminating diners with a combination of traditional German entrees including sauerbraten, weiner schnitzel, and jaeger schnitzel, all offered with Travelers Rest’s signature potato pancakes or AnneLise’s coveted recipe for spatzele, and today’s contemporary farm to table offerings.
Travelers Rest welcomes customers in 4 elegant dining rooms: The Terrace Room—intimate fireside dining complete with a terrace overlooking the manicured, lighted and professionally landscaped gardens, The Crystal Room, fireside dining underneath the fine Austrian crystal chandelier overlooking another angle of the gardens, The Lantern Room with its cozy banquettes lit by lanterns around the fire and vintage bar, and the recently renovated Atlantic Room, the largest by far, fireside dining and events of up to 200 guests. Waterside al fresco dining is available in-season and events can be hosted on the grounds and indoors with spectacular year-around views.
Regular dining hours are 5-9, Wednesday and Thursday, 5-10 Friday and Saturday and 1-9 Sunday and reservations are encouraged. There are numerous events throughout the year as well as private parties and special holiday menus.
